LIVERPOOL have already secured their first triumph at the new Wembley.
First team doctor Zaf Iqbal (above) was honoured at the inaugural Asian Football Awards held at the national stadium this week.
He was one of five nominees in the ‘Football behind the scenes award – medical’ category and came out on top ahead of counterparts from QPR, Wolves, Wigan and Birmingham.
“It was a fantastic, well organised evening and with it being at the home of football it was much bigger than I expected,” he said.
“I didn’t go into this profession to try and win any awards. The way that I work is to do the job to the best of my ability and try and provide the best care possible to the players.
“I realise I’m in a privileged position which is why I get involved in the various voluntary community projects.
“To get any sort of recognition for your work is fantastic.”
