John Aldridge: Pepe Reina played key role in Liverpool FC’s heroic performance

JOE HART got all the plaudits for his performance against Liverpool on Sunday.

Some of the saves from the Man City No 1 were top drawer and he proved he’s one of the best up and coming keepers in the world.

But there was also another outstanding shot-stopper playing in that game whose contribution shouldn’t be overlooked.

Pepe Reina made a couple of key saves and at times was playing like a sweeper like Ray Clemence used to.

He’s so alert to danger and was quick to come off his line. The tackle he put in on Sergio Aguero outside the box was perfectly timed!

It seems that in every home game this season the visiting keeper has had a ‘worldie’. I know the Kop always applauds but maybe we’re making them feel too comfortable. Perhaps, we should start booing them!

I’m only joking but it would be nice to see a visiting No 1 not walk away with a bottle of bubbly.
