LIVERPOOL director of football Damien Comolli paid tribute to Alberto Aquilani after the Italian completed his season-long loan move to AC Milan.
The 27-year-old midfielder underwent a medical yesterday.
Comolli said: “I want to pay tribute to the way Alberto has conducted himself during these discussions.
“Throughout the entire process, his only desire has been to play football and he has put this ahead of any other considerations and at personal cost to himself.”
Milan have an option to make the move permanent if Aquilani makes at least 25 appearances this season.
“'I am delighted to have arrived here,” said Aquilani. “This is a leap in my career. I have come to Milan to do well. The clause of making at least 25 appearances? It's not a problem for me and I'm not thinking about it.”
There are set to be more departures from Anfield before the transfer window shuts next week with Joe Cole, David Ngog and Christian Poulsen all expected to move on.
Poulsen has been dropped by Denmark coach Morten Olsen for their Euro 2012 qualifier against Norway.
Olsen said: “We hope that Christian finds a good club and gets playing time so that he can return.”
