Liverpool win sets up Palace date in the FA Youth Cup

LIVERPOOL’S reward for Wednesday night’s 4-0 win at Notts Country is a home tie with Crystal Palace in the fourth round of the FA Youth Cup.

Rodolfo Borrell’s side got their campaign off to a flyer at Meadow Lane as goals from Krisztian Adorjan, Michael Ngoo (2) and Raheem Sterling secured a comfortable victory.

“It is a great result for us and we are very pleased with how the lads applied themselves,” Borrell said.

“In the first 20 minutes we played fantastic football and deserved to go ahead through Adorjan.

“After that we were not practical in possession or as clinical in front of goal as I would have liked and we allowed the game to get too open.

“We spoke about how we could improve at half-time and I was delighted with the second half showing.

“We scored three great goals and illustrated what a good team we can be against an opponent who had been unbeaten in their last 11 matches.

“We can now head into the winter break in good spirits and look ahead to what will hopefully be a successful 2011.”
