Liverpool FC News: Reds appoint Spencer Stuart to find a replacement for Christian Purslow

Liverpool FC News: LIVERPOOL’S new owners have launched the search for Christian Purslow’s replacement.

Following the managing director’s exit from the club last month, New England Sports Ventures have called on the services of Spencer Stuart, a global executive search firm, to front the hunt for his successor.

Their brief is to find “business leaders with an interest in, and experience of, football” according to a statement from NESV.

The search, which is to begin with immediate effect, will be led by Jonathan Smith at Spencer Stuart and will look at candidates from both the UK and oversea.

Owner John Henry and NESV chairman Tom Werner will be responsible for appointing the new chief executive and are a working towards an announcement early in 2011.

Spencer Stuart operate in 27 different countries with 51 offices worldwide but were founded in Chicago, US in 1956.

Spencer Stuart have a well-established track record in global executive search, including the recruitment of Richard Scudamore as chief executive to the English Premier League and Ivan Gazidis in the same role at Arsenal.

Purslow replaced chief executive Rick Parry in June 2009, adopting the managing director's role.

Former FA chief executive and lifelong Liverpool supporter Brian Barwick has been linked with the role.
