Liverpool FC News: Real Sociedad consider move for Dani Pacheco as Emiliano Insua transfer hits problems

Liverpool FC News: REAL SOCIEDAD are ready to launch a bid to take Dani Pacheco back to Spain – as Emiliano Insua’s move to Fiorentina hit a major stumbling block.

Pacheco has shot to prominence while starring for his country in the ongoing UEFA Under-19 European Championships in France.

The 19-year-old netted his fourth goal of the tournament yesterday in helping Spain defeat England 3-1 in their semi-final clash.

Pacheco was signed by Liverpool from Barcelona in 2007 before breaking into the first team last season, going on to make seven appearances during an encouraging debut campaign.

However, the departure of Rafael Benitez has put the future of a number of players in doubt – particularly those brought over from Spain – with Sociedad now looking to take advantage of any uncertainty.

“Certainly Real Socieded are interested in Pacheco,” said Jokin Aperribay, the club’s chairman.

“He is a player we have followed, but we do not know if we can realise this operation.”

Maxi Rodriguez, signed from Atletico Madrid in January, is another attracting interest from Spain with Espanyol reportedly tracking the Argentina international, who spent three seasons at the La Liga outfit earlier in his career.

But Espanyol yesterday distanced themselves from such speculation with club director Joan Collet quoted as saying the move “was not viable economically”.

Meanwhile, Insua’s transfer to Fiorentina is in danger of falling through after the Italian club admitted they were unwilling to match his Anfield wages.

Insua has been expected to leave Anfield after the Serie A side agreed a fee of around £5million for the left-back more than a week ago.

However, Fiorentina sporting director Pantaleo Corvino has warned Insua he must lower his salary demands for the transfer to be completed.

“We have an agreement with the English club, but we have to find an understanding with the player in terms of wages,” said Corvino. “We cannot guarantee him the figures that he gets at Liverpool.”
