EVERTON hero Pat Nevin returns to Liverpool to curate a gig and spin some tunes alongside a stellar line-up at the Black-E next month.
Music and football go hand in hand on Merseyside, but on most occasions the partnership has produced bum notes (The Farm’s still anthemic ‘All Together Now’ an honourable exclusion).
Bucking that trend is former Everton, Tranmere and Scotland midfield maestro, Nevin.
Aside from dazzling the crowd with his footballing trickery, Nevin – one of the few who speaks any sense on Five’s Europa League Thursday night commentary team – is noted for his impeccable taste in music.
Stints DJ-ing at popular hipster festival All Tomorrow's Parties provided confirmation of his musical pedigree, and how he’s bringing his curating talents back to Merseyside.
Glasgow-born Nevin, was recently interviewed in the NME, of which he had to buy two copies each week 'because the lads in the dressing room would mess about with one but I'd know I had the other one safe in my bag to read in the team hotel.'
And his next stop is Liverpool’s Black-E where he’ll be spinning the decks alongside a crop of first-rate bands including Tranmere fans The Loud, Lucid Dream, Deadbeat Echoes and Mercury 13 – all hand-picked by the man himself.
Harvest Sun presents Pat Nevin’s Box of Tricks at the Black-E, Great George Street is on Friday March 23, 8pm-2.30pm. Tickets £6.
If that’s not enough to get you interested, the event’s promoter, Tom at Harvest Sun, is a massive Blue.
