Cricket: Malpas rewards top performers from 2009

MALPAS CC’s annual presentation took place at the Market Place in Hampton.

Skipper John Suckley was rewarded as the first-teamer with the best batting and bowling figures, while incoming 2010 captain Adrian Stubbs was recognised for claiming the most catches and run-outs.

In the second team, vice-captain Mark Jones received the batting award for the most runs. His 708 was a Meller Braggins League Division C record.

Tom Peake had the best bowling figures while Matthew Dunning had the most catches and run-outs.

Special prizes were given to Phillip Rowlandson, for a Division C record batting average of 53.86, Danny Lloyd, for a Division C record individual score of 153 not out, and Edward Barlow, who received the Copeland Bull Clubman of the Year Trophy for his fundraising efforts.

Jeanette Jones has been appointed Malpas’ new child welfare officer, assisted by Mark Goldsmith.

Keith Rickett will become junior cricket coordinator and, with Mark Jones, they are setting up a junior side. Weekly training sessions start on Tuesday, March 2, between 6-7pm at Bishop Heber High School. Registration for these classes is from 6pm onwards this Tuesday at Malpas Sports Club.

Malpas’ adults weekly nets sessions begin at The King’s School Chester on Monday from 7.30-9pm.
