Cricket: Lee Dwyer named new captain of Barrow

LEE Dwyer will take on the challenge of leading Barrow back into Meller Braggins League big time.

Dwyer was appointed Barrow’s first team captain at the club’s AGM, and it will be his aim to return The Croft outfit to the top flight after their relegation from Division One.

Nick Bell, along with being reappointed as the club’s chairman, announced he will stand down from first-team cricket to skipper Barrow’s second string.

Paul Wise was appointed midweek captain while youngsters Greg Russell and Tom Allen will share the Sunday team captaincy.

Barrow’s AGM reflected on what had been a busy year for the club with the extensive refurbishment of their clubhouse as well as a surge in their junior membership.
