Cricket: In-form Saughall defeated in real Styal

SAUGHALL surrendered their unbeaten record after a dramatic collapse consigned them to defeat at bottom club Styal.

Styal opted for first use of a flat track but were soon struggling with two wickets falling in the first two overs.

Dipak Jena (3-46) claimed two more wickets in a fine spell of seam bowling as the hosts were reduced to 64-5.

Styal’s tail wagged in impressive fashion as Saughall began to look ragged in the field but Mike Andrews (4-67) wrapped up proceedings as Styal put on 179ao.

Saughall then threw it away spectacularly. They lost opener James Huxley (2) in the first over and there followed a series of low scores, including three ducks in a row, as Saughall left Adam Griffiths high and dry on 74no.

In Division Two Frodsham beat visiting Glazebury by 64 runs.

Frodsham were dismissed for 189 (C Sandbach 35).

M Dodd then took 4-27 as Glazebury were dismissed for 125.

Capenhurst lost at home to Hartford 2nds in Division Three.

Cape made 170-6 but Hartford hit back with 174-4.
