Leaders too good

TATTENHALL 2nds slipped to defeat when they hosted table-topping Sale.

Anthony Rouse (35) and Graham Harper (21) scored freely against some short bowling and more modest contributions continued down the order, all combining to produce a total of 144.

Tattenhall’s bowlers toiled hard after tea but a flurry of wickets came with Sale just a few runs from victory. It proved too late, however, as the visitors crept over the line for the loss of seven wickets. Morris took 2-36 and Green 3-23.

ALVANLEY 2nds survived a late scare before overcoming Lindow, who batted first and were 162ao (Leadbetter 5-59, Bill Pearson 2-33).

Alvanley looked to be cruising to victory when on 155-4, but ended up crawling over the line at 163-9 (Andy Senior 53, Ajith Hettiarchchi 54, Steve Charles 24).

MALPAS 2nds were well beaten by Lymm Oughtrington Park, who rattled up 208-8 declared after 42 overs (Martin Punnett 5-68).

In reply, only Dan Williams (24) and Simon Younger (20) showed any resistance as Malpas crumbled to 83ao.
