Junior football: Rising stars shine at Upton tournament in the sun

HUNDREDS of youngsters were on the ball at a six-a-side junior football tournament staged in glorious sunshine, writes DAVID BERGIN.

More than 30 junior teams from Chester, North Wales and Ellesmere Port took part in the tournament at the Cheshire County Sports Club, Upton.

It was staged by Mark Cadwallader’s Football Bootique company and the age group winners were Blacon A under 11s, Rossway U12s, Stork U13s and Airbus U14s.

Cadwallader, a former Chester City youth player who now plays for Airbus UK Broughton, said: “Everything went really well.

“It was a brilliant day. We staged the tournament so we could get to know all the managers and local teams and it was a really good day. I was happy with how it all went.”

Football Bootique, which Mark runs alongside brother John, is a specialist shop based in Rufus Court, Chester, that sells equipment for the game, including kit, balls, boots, gloves and other player accessories.
