Junior football: Elite Academies offer four Christleton New Scene aces big chance

FOUR young Christleton New Scene players have been signed up to top football Academies after impressing in junior tournaments around Cheshire.

Ben Clarke, of Waverton, and Kyle John, of Blacon, have joined Everton, with first-team boss David Moyes even signing their contracts.

Team-mate Morgan Boyles, of Blacon, has signed for Merseyside rivals Liverpool and Jack Wilson, from Newton, has been taken on by Crewe Alexandra.

The contracts for the eight- year-olds are initially 12 months and will be reviewed at the end of next season.

It means that Ben, a pupil at Waverton Primary School, Kyle (Blacon Primary) and Morgan (Newton Primary) will not be able to play for their school or Christleton next season due to Premier League Academy rules. Upton Primary pupil Jack, however, will skipper Christleton U9s as well as appearing for Crewe.

“They are all excited,” said Ben’s dad, Jon. “They will get to experience the best facilities and coaching available and it should be an enjoyable experience.

“This is just the first step. It doesn’t mean they will become footballers, far from it, but it is a start, and probably the best start they could have.”
