Wasps are soon buzzing

WAVERTON Wasps found their feet swiftly after stepping up into 11-a-side football for the first time.

They beat Westminster Park 6-0 in the under 11s Green Division.

Scott Evans, Ben Biggs, Matthew Traynor, Dan Hamp and Matty Harland Jones (2) got the Wasps off to a great start.

Saughall Colts lost at home to Boughton 8-1.

In the U11s Red Division, Waverton Bees travelled to Castrol and lost 5-3. Waverton Hornets fared little better, losing 10-0 to Chester Nomads, who scored through Harvey France, Luke Chard, Deiniol Gregory- Bower, man-of-the-match George Back, Isaac Robinson, Sean Maddocks and Luke Gibbons.

Division One of the U12s section saw Chester Nomads pick up a 3-1 win against visiting Westminster Park. MoM Sean Crawshaw (2) and Harry Killoran were on target in a close game. Alex Halliwell- Dykes responded for Park, whose MoM was Ellis Gibson.

Blacon Youth returned from Whitby Rangers with the points after winning 10-4, while Waverton travelled to Castrol and triumphed 10-1 with goals from debutant and MoM Matt Sheen (5), Matt Simpson (3), Charlie Nicholson and Alex Wilkinson.

Chester Nomads Colts saw off Waverton Bees 3-1 thanks to strikes from Charlie Derbyshire, Chris Anderson and Jack Powell. MoM was Callum Poppleton.

Malpas’ Joel Nevitt rounded the keeper and slotted home to set his side up for a 2-0 win over visiting Hope Farm. Malpas MoM James Realff cleared off the line to prevent an equaliser before Bradley Naylor bagged his first for his new club.

Newton Athletic got off to a good start with an 8-1 win over Upton Blacks. A hat-trick from Danny Cappadona and goals from Kieran Crozier (2), Sam Spridgeon (2) and Harry Clarke sealed it for Newton, whose MoM was Conner Millington. Upton scored through Matthew McCaffrey.

The U13s division saw Saughall Colts win at Malpas 7-0, Macauley Newell, MoM Aaron Emond (3), Luke Munday (pen), Yuseph Bakir and Liam Coss all registering. Malpas’ MoM was Oliver Huxley.

Park Saints’ Joe Williams scored a hat- trick as his side sank Westminster Park Lions 4-0. Lewis Donovan grabbed the fourth, with the MoM award going to Scott Leeding. Westminster Park Lions MoM was Joel Langmead.

Castrol Athletic drew 1-1 with Waverton while Princess Villa went to Newton Athletic and came back 10-0 victors.
