VAUXHALL Motors Junior Football Club hosted one of the biggest junior football tournaments in the region on Saturday and raised more than £1,000 for Miles of Smiles.

The club invited 160 teams aged up to under 15s to take part for the fourth year in a row and in total 1,350 youngsters pulled on their boots to challenge for trophies.

Two Chester teams took part, Boughton U10s and Christleton New Scene.

For each player registered Vauxhall pledged to donate £1 to Chronicle-backed children’s charity Miles of Smiles.

“It was another great turnout and the charity donation got the biggest cheer of the day,” said tournament organiser Steve Foulkes.

On the field there were trophy victories for Barlows in the under 9s, Ellesmere Port (U10s), Vauxhall Astras (U11s), Peninsula Comets (U12s), Ewloe (U13s) and Victoria Laird Colts (U14s and U15s).
