Thousands flock for weekend of fun and games

MORE than 2,000 children showcased their skills at one of the region’s largest youth football tournaments at the weekend.

The Frodsham JFC Festival of Football at Helsby High featured 170 teams battling for trophies, from under 6s level through to U14s.

They travelled from North Wales, Liverpool, Mid Cheshire and Stoke to take on the best teams from the Chester, Frodsham and Helsby areas.

The festival is an annual event to raise money for Frodsham JFC.

Frodsham vice-chairman Mark Stanley said: “It was another resounding success. It is one of the biggest youth tournaments there is. The standard was high and it was a great two days of football.”

The winners were: U9s Frodsham Town Lions; U10s Heath Rangers; U11s Frodsham Town; U12s Stork Youth; U13s Wilmslow Colts; U14 Signol; U10s girls Halton; U12 girls Frodsham; U14s girls Halton.
