Trio star in border battle

THREE teams went to represent the Chester and District Junior League at this year’s Anglo/Welsh competition in Ruthin.

In wet and miserable conditions, the best players in the under 12s, U14s and U16s divisions took on their counterparts from the Wrexham and Clwyd Junior Leagues and Stockport Metro.

They played well in their four-team round robin leagues but, at the end, most places had to be decided on goal difference as the sides were evenly matched.

Unfortunately, that left Chester’s U12s and U14s lying in third and the U16s in fourth overall.

Club secretaries wishing to enter teams in the Chester and District League’s junior division, mini-soccer division or girls’ league for the 2008/2009 season should contact league secretary Karl Williamson on 07852 112810. There are only a limited number of spaces left in all age groups.
