Malpas in final with high five

MALPAS were firing on all cylinders in the under 11s Subsidiary Cup semi-final at Saughall.

They won 5-0 with Joel Nevitt (2) George Cunningham, Tom Hayton and Aiden Smith scoring. Roger Gilman was the Malpas man-of- the-match for his all-action display in midfield.

Chester Nomads Colts produced a fine 6-2 win against a competitive Vicars Cross side in the Deva Challenge Group B game. Ben Johnson, Kayode Famoriyo, Sam Gareh (2), David Daly and Chris Anderson got on the scoresheet for Colts. MoM was Jack Powell.

In the U13 R&G Logistics Ltd Division, Park Saints won 6-0 at home to Upton JFC to seal the title. Johnny Morgan (4), Lewis Knight and Sam Moodie scored to give Saints the win. MoM was Adam Davies.

Waverton beat Saughall Colts 3-2 to end the visitors’ hopes of finishing second. Luke Diamond and George Carroll got on to Colts’ scoresheet but it wasn’t enough for victory. MoM was Joshua Wren.

In Division Two, Westminster Park Wanderers lost a goal-filled match 6-3 against Newton Athletic. Made captain for his last match with the club, Mathew Lewis bagged a hat-trick for Newton, supported by Jacob Rhoden (2) and Steven Bellis. Wanderers then piled forward and struck three late goals to make the score look more respectable. MoM was shared between Lewis and Bellis.

Earlier in the week, Athletic had earned a much more narrow win at Chester Nomads Colts. Jack McGarva and Lloyd Smith scored for the Colts but Newton’s dogged determination won through. MoM was Dominic Harper.

The Colts recovered to win their final game of the season 4-1 at Westminster Park Warriors. With only 11 players available, the Colts put on a solid display. Jack Dilworth, George Dermott, Lloyd Smith and Thomas Johnson found the net to ensure Colts ended the season on a high. MoM was Freddy Green.

The U14s Subsidiary Cup semi-final saw Upton North draw 2-2 Blacon Youth Whites but win through on penalties. Blacon took the lead early in the first half through Jo Lambe. Upton rallied last to make the score 1-1 at half-time.

A early strike in the second half from Blacon’s top goalscorer Augustine Bangura was quickly cancelled out by Upton and the teams played out a stalemate until a shootout decided it in Upton’s favour. Blacon’s MoM was Patrick Aldom.

Hope Farm will face Upton in the final after a gripping 3-2 win over Pulford. Gary Bebbington (2) and James Bennion hit the target for Hope Farm to beat Pulford, who scored through Kallum Marsden and Cameron Murdoch.
