Hornets get stung by the slick Oilmen

CASTROL Athletic’s Andrew Jones bagged a superb brace to deny Waverton Hornets a win on their home ground in the Under 10s Shield.

The match was switched following heavy rain and Castrol’s Jones lashed home his first after 15 minutes. Waverton began to pile on pressure for an equaliser, but a Castrol clearance gave Jones the opportunity to slot his second past keeper Ellis Brackenbury from a tight angle on the outside of his foot.

Waverton then struck through James Halligan following a cross from Patrick Willis on the left wing, but Castrol sealed a 3-1 victory with a Jamie Smith strike outside the box.

Waverton’s man of the match was Samuel Jenkins, and Jamie Walker for Castrol.
