BIG Storage Cheshire Jets have parted company with guard Trey Moore as the regular BBL season heads into its final week.
The 6ft 4in American has left the club due to a disagreement over his obligations to Jets’ Hoops4Health community programme, which runs in local primary schools.
Moore jetted back to the States at the weekend and will miss this Sunday’s final game of the campaign against Leicester Riders at Birchwood Sports Centre, Warrington.
Jets director Peter Hawkins said: “It is a great shame that Trey felt unable to complete his work in the community, but this left us with no option but to release him. We sat down with him but ended up agreeing to disagree.
“It must be emphasised that we all still maintain the greatest of respect for each other and we parted with a handshake. Everyone at the club wishes Trey the very best of luck wherever the rest of his career takes him.”
Jets have placed great emphasis on their community work since the club was saved from extinction last summer.
Hawkins added: “We have started to build a firm foundation for the long term through engaging the community and starting to show the youth of Cheshire and beyond what a great sport basketball is. Without this involvement we do not have a club. It is therefore essential that we all engage in the programmes that we are running – all for one, and one for all.”
