Cheshire FA District Youth Cup: Chester District FA Youth through to county cup final

THE Chester District FA squad have powered through to the final of the Cheshire FA District Youth Cup.

They beat Mid Cheshire District 3-1 in their final group game on Sunday to give the team a chance of lifting the trophy for the first time since 1987.

In a closely-fought game, Mid Cheshire took the lead after 15 minutes.

Chester rallied and following a string of saves from the Mid Cheshire keeper, Lewis Dransfield got off the mark in the 40th minute by shooting from close range.

Chester goalkeeper Sam Addison starred several times as he repelled Mid Cheshire’s attacks.

Chester’s superiority was rewarded in the 80th minute when Adam Thelwell-Wilson was tripped in the penalty area and his brother Gary emphatically converted the kick.

Chester then created several more chances and the victory was sealed when sub Jared Taylor superbly struck a 20-yard shot into the bottom corner of the net.

In the final, Chester will play against Wirral FA.
