CRAIG Harrison and Gareth Owen saw their new-look Airbus side kick off the Corbett Sports Welsh Premier League with a battling draw.

Fresh faces filled the Wingmakers’ side with Danny Taylor, Adam Worton, Glenn Rule, Tommy Holmes, Mike Hayes and Craig Whitfield all starting the game while at the other end, former Airbus keeper Kristian Rogers returned in the Town goal.

A nervy start for Airbus allowed the visitors to create a number of opportunities that keeper Niki-Lee Bulmer managed to block.

Ian Sheridan then thought he had won a penalty for the Wingmen when he raced into the Town box and was brought down, only for the referee to wave away the appeal.

After the half-time break, Bulmer pulled off a terrific save from a close-range Dylan Blain header.

But the danger was not over. The resulting corner was swung in and Paul Cochlin rose to make it 1-0 to the Steelmen on 64 minutes.

The lead did not last long, however.

Just five minutes later, Airbus had a corner of their own. Adam Worton whipped the ball in and Danny Desormeaux headed for goal.

Town cleared it off the line but Hayes – the former Gap Connah’s Quay and Bala striker – opened his Airbus account with a three-yard tap-in.

The Wingmakers travel to face Prestatyn Town tomorrow (7.30pm).
