WORK has begun both on and off the pitch to get Vauxhall Motors in shape for the new season.
As manager Anthony Wright works hard to put together his squad, members of the public are being asked to help out with a ‘clean-up day’ at the club’s Rivacre Park home this Saturday.
The Ellesmere Port outfit are run by a small group of volunteers and they need assistance with cleaning, painting and weeding.
Anyone willing to help should get to the ground for 10am onwards.
On the playing front, new boss Wright has re-signed goalkeeper Scott Tynan and full-back Kevin Grocott on contracts.
However Wright, who will run the rule over a glut of trialists during pre-season training, has lost the services of defender Brian Moogan and winger Neil Prince.
Moogan has left the club after two years while Prince has decided to retire at the age of 28.
Vauxhall will kick-off the Blue Square North campaign at home to Gloucester City on Saturday, August 13.
They were also handed back-to-back festive clashes against new boys Colwyn Bay when the fixtures were released this week.
Wright’s first game in charge of Motors will see him come face-to-face in the dugout with former Liverpool and Germany midfielder Didi Hamann.
Hamann has been named the new manager of Stockport County and he will bring his Hatters side to Rivacre Park on Tuesday, July 19 (7.30pm), for what will be Vauxhall’s first warm-up match of the summer.
