Football: Chester Nomads prepare for Cheshire Amateur Cup quarter final

CHESTER Nomads face their toughest challenge yet in the Cheshire Amateur Cup when they face West Cheshire League Division One title-outsiders Newton in the quarter-finals.

Up to now the draw has been relatively kind to the Division Two side.

After beating Cheshire League Division Two side Grappenhall at the Garrison Ground 2-1, they then drew 2-2 with Cheshire League Division One side Stalybridge Celtic Reserves in their most difficult tie to date.

John Cadwallader’s side won the replay 3-1 on the road to go through.

Then an away tie with Barnton ended 0-0 before Nomads won the replay at the Garrison Ground 3-2.

On Saturday they face a real challenge of Newton, currently fifth in West Cheshire League Division One.

In the second round of the Division Three Shield Christleton Reserves tackle Richmond Raith Rovers at Little Heath.
