BLACON Youth Club are still searching for their first Division One win of the season after they suffered a late collapse to go down 4-1 at home to defending champions West Kirby on Saturday.
A shock looked on the cards when Peter Hughes’ side took the lead through Damian Rowley.
Rowley and James Antrobus had chances to put Blacon back in front after the scores were levelled – and the powerful third-placed visitors made them pay with three goals in the final 15 minutes.
It was also an afternoon to forget for under-strength Christleton as they fell 4-2 at home to Runcorn Town.
Ben Carrigan, with a super 20-yard strike, and Craig Warrington, following good play between Lee Butterworth and Carrigan, struck for the Little Heath outfit, who ultimately paid the price for a poor first half performance.
Helsby enjoyed better fortunes as Matty Johnson, Sam Bailey and Reece Conlan fired them to a 3-0 victory at Maghull.
Upton AA were not in top-flight action as they were busy booking their place in the second round of the Cheshire Amateur Cup with a 4-1 home win in their replay with Spurley Hey.
Simon Andrews, John Bygroves and James Bignall (2) did the damage.
Chester Nomads remained three points within top spot in Division Two with an excellent 2-0 triumph at Mossley Hill Athletic.
Debutant Ilya Haycock and Jack Delgado netted for Nomads.
Capenhurst Villa, courtesy of Andy Newland, were 1-0 home winners over Maghull Reserves.
Capenhurst Villa Reserves could not make it a club double as they were beaten 4-2 at high-flying Hale in Division Three.
Chris McNeil and Chris Georgeson replied for Cape.
Andy Shelton (2), Richard Keen (2) and Mike Bowell shared the strikes as Upton AA Reserves won 5-1 at Mossley Hill Athletic Reserves.
Jacob Pryce offered Blacon Youth Club Reserves’ consolation in their 4-1 loss at Richmond Raith Rovers while St Werburgh’s were swept aside 4-0 at table-topping Prescot Cables Reserves.
