Vauxhall Motors 0Solihull Moors 2
MOTORS dropped into the relegation zone on Saturday as their win-less run stretched to seven Blue Square North matches.
Solihull striker James McPike scored one and set another up as Solihull lifted themselves out of the danger zone.
Vauxhall had started brightly, and on eight minutes Lee Furlong shot at Solihull keeper Dan Crane after being put through by Karl Noon.
On 25 minutes it was Furlong again who had another chance, but this time he fired wide.
Solihull took the lead on 55 minutes. McPike found space on the left and hit a low ball across the face of the goal to Greg Mills, who finished comfortably from close range.
With Vauxhall pushing forward in the closing stages in search of an equaliser, they were hit on the counter in the 90th minute. McPike was left to run through on goal unchallenged and eventually drilled a great right-footed shot beyond St Louis-Hamilton.
Vauxhall: St Louis-Hamilton, Moogan, Dames, Lane, Hannigan, Smith, Egerton (Wade 68), Wilson, Noon (Hine 60), Furlong, Noone (Wright 70). Subs: Mustafa, Holden. Attendance: 187.
Motors kick off their FA Cup campaign in the second qualifying round on Saturday, travelling to UniBond Premier side Whitby Town (3pm).
There was good news off the field for Motors as they found out they will be receiving a £6,000 donation from the Premier League. This act of generosity is part of a one-off payment of £1m to all Conference, Conference North and Conference South clubs.
Southport’s former Chester City winger Robbie Booth, 23, has signed for a second month on loan at Vauxhall and has permission to play for them in the FA Cup on Saturday.
