Chester & District League: Chester Nomads 2nds claim big Premier Division scalp

CHESTER Nomads 2nds (Kev Smith, Mike Jeffers, Peter Fitzpatrick, Jay Imlac) shot down Chester and District League Premier Division high flyers Crossway (Andy Thomas, Peter Goff) on Monday with an impressive 4-2 away victory. Nomads had lost 1-0 at home to Highfield Athletic (Ross Broadbent) on Saturday.

There were also defeats for Parkgate (Joe Havey), 3-1 at home to Kelsall, and Tarvin 2000 Athletic (Adam Grimes, Gordon Piggin), 3-2 at home to AFC Bebington Athletic. But there were wins on Friday for Helsby (Lee Fletcher 4, Simon Page 2, Graham Search, Adam Newbolt), 8-2 at home to City Bar (Steve Taught, Ian McElway), and Newton Bears (Mike Edwards, Paul Davies), 2-0 at Sutton Way Villa.

Castrol Woodlands (Carl Gattrel) made it four successive Division One triumphs on Monday as they sent FC Pensby packing 1-0. Highfield Athletic Reserves (Ross Broadbent) drew 1-1 at home to Chester Nomads 3rds (Steve Smith) while Saughall Thursday (Joe Cossins 3) won 3-1 at home to Ashton FC (Tom Port). Ashton had won 5-1 at home to Cestrian Alex on Saturday.

Duddon United (Richard Ankers 2, Rob Laughton, Sean Roberts, Martin Fitzsimon) triumphed 5-3 at Highfield (Scott Broadbent 2, Danny Rose) and Railway Athletic (Grant Goodband) 2-0 at home to Nomads. But Saughall (Tom Cossins 2, James Nixon) lost 5-3 at home to Pensby.
