AIRBUS UK Broughton’s hopes of signing the Welsh Premier League’s all-time leading goalscorer may have been scuppered by a last-minute bid from top-flight rivals Prestatyn Town.
Just as the Wingmakers seemed certain to have secured the services of Marc Lloyd Williams following his exit from Porthmadog, Craig Harrison claims the Seasiders have tabled a deal that includes a signing-on fee for the 36-year-old hitman.
Airbus boss Harrison, who was last night waiting to hear which club Lloyd Williams has chosen, said: “As far as I was concerned it was a done deal.
“It was an eleventh hour bid that put a stick in the spokes. The club is bigger than just one player and we couldn’t stretch our offer any further.
“Prestatyn’s chairman made a personal offer of a substantial amount of money. We were stretching the budget to the maximum to bring him in.”
Lloyd Williams has scored 302 goals in 387 Welsh Premier appearances, including 15 in 10 against the Wingmakers.
One player definitely on his way to the Airfield is highly-rated Porthmadog defender Rhys Roberts. Harrison is also signing Rhyl striker Carl Owen.
Midfielders Jack Abraham, from Flint Town United, and Simon Law, from Upton AA, have also landed at Airbus, but utility man Mark Cadwallader has left for Northwich Victoria and the Blue Square North.
