Football: Bebington fight back for victory after first-half scare

LEADERS AFC Bebington remain clear of the pack but they were made to work for their victory on Saturday.

Highfield Athletic 2nds took a 2-0 lead into the half-time break against the pacesetters and looked poised for a shock victory against a team that has yet to drop a point this season.

But goals from Matty Carline and Graham Tomlinson were cancelled out by a second-half blitz from treble ace Chris Oakley and Mike Dunn.

Ryan Nichol was another hat-trick hero as Woodlands made short work of Cestrian Alex with a 5-2 success.

Rob Stockton and John Duncan completed the scoring with John Mackay and Paul Finch replying.

Lowly Parkgate (Joe Harvey 2, Carl Dunbar, James Jaggard, Callum Herbert) were stunning 5-1 winners against Saughall Thursday.

Helsby, in second, won 3-0 at second- bottom Ashton Lions and Duddon United (Lee Guirado) drew 1-1 with Frodsham United (Anthony Gobin).

Division Two’s Rangers Breaks showed no mercy as they beat Hoole Rangers Reserves 8-0.

In Division Three, Crossway Reseves (Ugo Eboh, Dan Brown) drew 2-2 against Halfwayhouse Celtic (Jay Gerraghty 2) and Mark Bentley led the way with a hat-trick in Willaston Nomads’ stunning 7-0 win at Lodge Bar. John Lloyd (2), Richie Foulkes and Ant Jones completed the rout.
