UPTON AA kept their distant Division One title hopes alive with a close 2-1 win at second-bottom Halton.
Simon Andrews and Martin Gaulton kept Upton third, 10 points off the top with a game in hand on the leaders.
Christleton remain third-bottom after slumping 3-1 at home to Maghull. Sean O’Rourke hit the consolation.
Bottom side Blacon YC earned only their sixth point of the season, in a 2-2 draw at Heswall. Will Collins and John Dean sealed the point, but Blacon then lost 3-1 in midweek at Cammell Laird Reserves.
Division Two top dogs Helsby stay five points clear with a 4-1 win at lowly Bronze Social, thanks to finishes from Matty Johnson (2), Alan Bond and Gary Lunt.
Capenhurst Villa (Alan Locke, Tom McGill, Danny Higginson) fell to a surprise 4-3 defeat at third-bottom Grange Athletic.
In Division Three, Blacon YC Reserves (Mike Price) slumped 5-1 at home to Ashville Reserves and Capenhurst Villa fell 1-0 to Hale.
Second-from-bottom St Werburgh’s fell 3-2 against second-placed Runcorn Town Reserves, with goals from Shaun Campbell, Rob Glover.
Upton AA Reserves lost a thrilling end-to-end encounter 5-3 against Manor Athletic.
Pat Walsh, Simon Law and Nathan Freeman’s goals proved in vain for Upton.
