Football: Highfield into semi final after comeback victory

HIGHFIELD Athletic booked their place in the semi-finals of the Tom Gerraghty Memorial Trophy with a 4-2 win over Manor Athletic.

Chris Larson, Lee Whelan, Rob Joinson and Ross Broadbent scored as Highfield came from 2-1 down to win.

Waggon & Horses also went through, beating Sutton Way Villa 3-2 with goals from Warren Roberts, Gary Ellams and Danny Davies.

In the Queensferry Sports Premier Division Newton Bears lost 3-0 to visiting Castrol Social. Mark Hughes, Mark Hampson and Jaques Bonfier were on target.

Phil Goss earned Crossway a valuable point at home to Kelsall, his goal giving them a 1-1 draw.

Olympic Trophies Division One saw Frodsham United tame Ashton Lions. It finished 3-0 to United, Antony Dobin, Dave Huby and John Dover scoring.

Highfield Athletic 2nds beat Robin Hood 3-1 thanks to a Stuart Davies double and one from Graham Tomlinson.

Cestrian Alex thought they had bagged a 1-0 win over Parkgate through Adi Gough but a late equalising own goal meant it finished 1-1.

Helsby beat Woodlands 3-1 and Duddon lost 3-0 at home to Bebington Res.
