Up for the cup

BOSS Craig Harrison believes Airbus UK Broughton can win the Welsh Cup – despite being handed the toughest quarter-final draw.

The Wingmakers booked their place in the last eight for the first time in their history with a 2-1 fourth- round home win over Newi Cefn Druids on Friday night, a win given to them by Ryan Edwards’ penalty and Danny Desormeaux’s wonderful winner.

Their reward is a home clash over the weekend of February 27 with holders Bangor City, who beat big- spending neighbours Rhyl on penalties on Saturday.

Harrison, whose 10th- placed side return to league action at home to seventh- placed Haverfordwest County tomorrow (2.30pm), said: “You can look at the draw negatively or positively and we’re looking at it positively because we want to win the whole competition.

“Bangor are the strongest team left in the competition, but if you’re going to win it you’ve got to beat anyone and everyone and who better to beat in the quarter-finals than the holders and favourites? And if we do, it would create an even greater belief we can win it.”

Left-back Giovanni Feliciello and centre-back Matty Woodward serve one-match bans for Airbus tomorrow and will be replaced by Gary Lovell and Gareth Sudlow. James McIntosh, along with fellow strikers Paul Hallows and Jon Slater, remains sidelined, but his ankle ligament injury is not as bad as first feared.

Centre-back Jack Rowlands has gone on loan to Cymru Alliance neighbours Mynydd Isa.
