Airbus UK Broughton 1 Prestatyn Town 1
AIRBUS UK Broughton were brought back down to earth on Friday as they were unable to build on one of the results of the season.
Craig Harrison’s Wingmakers, seven days after claiming the scalp of The New Saints, were held to a draw by Prestatyn.
Boss Harrison felt his side were denied a blatant penalty and had a perfectly good goal ruled out against the Seasiders.
But he admitted that it was their failure to take their chances that cost them a victory that would have moved them above their visitors into 10th.
Harrison said: “We’ve had three, four or five chances but not taken them.
“That’s been the story of our season so far, but I don’t think we’re having the rub of the green either. The goal that was disallowed was shocking and it was a nailed-on penalty for handball.
“I don’t know what we’ve got to do to get a penalty.”
The Cymru Alliance champions also had reason to remonstrate with the officials after they had a late effort chalked off for offside.
That would have brought them their first away win since being promoted, but that would have been harsh on the hosts, who cancelled out Michael Parker’s 26th-minute opener when Tom Rowlands delightfully volleyed in off the post 20 minutes from time.
The 11th-placed Wingmakers make the short trip to Newi Cefn Druids on Saturday (2.30pm) before hosting the return derby clash on New Year’s Day (2.30pm).
