Top recognition for sporting stalwarts

ATHLETICS: Two hard-working West Cheshire AC officials have been rewarded for their dedication to athletics.

There was double delight for the club when Alan Morris and Dan Gilroy were honoured at the England Athletics North West awards evening, held at De Vere White’s Hotel in Bolton.

Dan, who lives in Tarvin, was presented with the Services to Coaching Award after spending many hours during the last 30 years helping to guide locally-based athletes to a succession of accolades.

Alan, of Handbridge, was presented with the Official of the Year Award for his work as a field judge during the last year at numerous county, regional and international athletics meetings.

The pair have now been invited to attend the England Athletics Awards evening in Birmingham on October 30 as regional winners and finalists for the national awards.
