HALTON & Frodsham Harriers under 11s girls team have been crowned North West champions.
The team claimed top spot at the North West Sportshall League finals at Wigan’s Robin Park.
Sally Hulse, Charlotte Davies, Emily Ross, Jenny Pyatt, Megan McEveley, Annabel Kitchen, Jess Wright, Michaela Campbell, Millie Tobin, Molly Clarke and Ines Robinson made up the glorious girls team, whose combined individual scores were enough for the overall title.
The U11 boys team featured Alister Grant, Harry Stubbs, Will Parsons, Tom Merrill, Johnathon Jones, Will Fletcher, Daniel Williamson, Luke Bratt, Jack Peacock and Ben Sutcliffe. Though not featuring in the team medals, they had some good individual performances.
In the older age groups, the Harriers had the U13 girls and boys and the U15 boys competing.
Martha Cottrell, Kate Merrill, Emily Pearson, Amy Pearson, Emma Pyatt and Emma Scott represented the U13 girls, finishing in third place in the team competition. There were some medal-winning performances, with Emma Scott taking a silver in the speed bounce, Emma Pyatt a bronze in the six-lap, Emily bronze in the vertical jump, and sister Amy also a bronze in the standing long jump.
The U13 boys were faced with the problem of turning out a small group to compete for the title, but the four who did compete put up some good results. Charlie Fletcher, Jorge Peacock, Thomas Jones and Richard McGeachie took on the task.
The quartet making up the team in the U15 boys competition were James Crosby, Robert McGeachie, Mark Deeprose and David Hayes, each posting some great results to put them third in the overall results.
David had a good day with a gold medal in the shot and a bronze in the two-lap. Mark also picked up two bronzes, one in the four-lap and the other in the vertical jump.
The Harriers will now prepare for the outdoor track and field season, competing in the Cheshire League and the National Young Athletes League.
