Harriers quick to join in

MEMBERS of Halton and Frodsham Harriers have been in action at both the Cheshire Junior Multi-Events Championships and North West Road Relays.

The club had representatives in the under 11, U13 and U15 girls competitions in the multi-events champs at Macclesfield.

Jess Wright, Megan McEveley and Jenny Pyatt were engaged in the triathlon event, which involved a 100m sprint, an 800m race, long jump and javelin – with the best three events to score.

Megan scored 106 points, Jenny 136 and Jess secured individual second spot with 179. The trio’s combined score saw them take second in the team section.

Emma Scott, Emma Pyatt and Katy Morgan were in the U13 girls tri competition. Emma Scott had one grade three performance and two grade fours, scoring 175 for a fifth Cheshire place.

Katy scored 132 for a 10th Cheshire spot while Emma Pyatt had a grade three performance in the 800m and scored 105 points for an 11th Cheshire place.

Amy Wright, competing in the pentathlon, had a steady scoring rate and finished with 1,642 points, just missing an award in a fifth Cheshire place.

The North West relays, staged at Marbury Park, Northwich, incorporated the Cheshire championships.

There was good news for the Harriers’ U13 girls team as they won a Cheshire silver medal in the 3x2700m. The team comprised Katy Morgan, Kate Merrill and Jess Parsons.

In the U13 boys race, Frodsham trio Matthew Hulse, Patrick Stradling and Richard McGeachie matched the girls’ achievement by winning county silver.

Mark Coman, Ryan Jackson and David Tomalin were the U17 men running the tougher 3x 5,700m race and were placed a creditable sixth in the Cheshire finishers.
