Harriers have a fruitful assault

HALTON and Frodsham Harriers enjoyed a successful opening fixture in the 2007-08 Northwest Sportshall League.

Taking place at the Kingsway Leisure Centre in Widnes, the event saw the Harriers claim a number wins and high-scoring places.

In the under 11 girls competition, new club member Tori Acton took the maximum points in her A section races, with wins in the two-lap and four-lap races while Jess Wright won the B four-lap.

Jack Allen took second in the U11 boys two-lap (26.7sec) and in the four-lap event, Allen was second again in the A section (61s), with brother Jake first in the B race (65.2s).

Jake also finished second in the B long jump (1.65m).

Edward Goodwin, won the B speed bounce (41) and came second in the A chest push (5.50m).

Andrew Kelly took triple-jump silver (5m) and Thomas Jones, Andrew, Jake, and Jack then won the relay.

Amy Wright and Emma Scott both won the speed bounce, Amy’s 78 taking the A points and Emma’s 73 the B.

Ashley Pye got the U13 boys off to a flying start with a win in the A two-lap, (26.4sec).

Jamie Cunniffe and Richard McGeachie added to the score with first in the A and B six- lap, completing in 1 min 39.2sec and 1min 42.7sec respectively.

In the field events, Ashley took victory in the A triple jump (5.94m) and speed bounce (71).

The A shot first place then went to Cunniffe (7.29m) and Mark Deprose took the B with a putt of 6.55m, adding to his second in the A long jump (2m). James Crosby won the B long jump (1.96m).

McGeachie won the B events in triple jump (4.81m) and speed bounce (65).

Deprose Crosby, Cunniffe and Pye then won the relay, (1min 50sec).

The U15 girls had Nicole Bell achieve second in the B two-lap (27.3s). Her 2m long jump was also good for second B points.

Aoife Haymer was top in the A speed bounce (88) and second in the A shot-putt (6.44m).

U15 boys David Tomalin and Liam Renton both did well.

Tomalin came first in the A two-lap (25.9s) and triple jump (6.68m)and second in the A six-lap (1m 33.5sec) and the speed bounce (72).

Renton took first in the B two-lap, (29.1sec), the six-lap, (1:34.2s) and the speed bounce (64) and second in the A long jump, (1.92m)
