Your Champions: Hafod y Wern Community School in Wrexham nominated for award
HAFOD Y WERN Community School, Deva Way, Wrexham, has been nominated for the ScottishPower-Trinity Mirror Your Champions award for School of the Year.
It was nominated by Tristan Thomas of Caia Park Communities First.
The 261-pupil school is in the middle of Caia Park.
Mr Thomas said: “Two years ago Hafod y Wern was classed as a failing school.
“Since then it’s gone through an amazing transformation under the leadership of new headteacher Simon Edwards.”
Mr Edwards said: “It’s lovely to be nominated. It’s a recognition of the way we’re going which is the right direction.”
