Your Champions: Christine Thomas of Cefn Dre, Wrexham, twice nominated for award

A COMMUNITY stalwart has received two nominations for a ScottishPower-Trinity Mirror Your Champions award.

Christine Thomas, of Cefn Dre, Wrexham, is widely recognised in Caia Park for her voluntary work.

Mrs Thomas helps others despite bouts of ill health.

Her role as chairman of governors for Gwenfro Community Primary School, Queensway, Wrexham, is one she cherishes, with the school recognising her links between the school and the community and her approachable nature.

Deb Williams, of Caia Park Communities First, has also added her nomination and said: “She was a founder member of the NEW 2 YOU business and social enterprise.

“She also took an active role as Afon Tenants and Residents group chair for many years.

“Chris is very passionate about Caia Park. She likes to ensure all residents have the same opportunities.”

Mrs Thomas said: “To get this surprising news after just coming out of hospital is very nice and uplifting. But this is a team effort. It’s not just about me.”
