A 24-year-old man has been charged with causing death by dangerous driving after two people were killed and a 12-year-old girl critically injured when a car hit a group of pedestrians, police said.
Two women received less serious injuries when the vehicle mounted a pavement in Beaver Road, Ashford, Kent.
A 49-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene while a 67-year-old man died of his injuries after being taken to hospital.
The girl was in a critical but stable condition in intensive care.
Stefan Stanko, of West Street, Gravesend, was charged with two counts of causing death by dangerous driving, dangerous driving, failure to stop at a collision, failure to report a collision, and driving with excess breath alcohol, Kent Police said.
He remains in police custody and is due to appear before Ashford Magistrates' Court.
