Body of boy is recovered from pond

The body of an 11-year-old boy has been recovered from a pond, Greater Manchester Police said.

The boy, from Salford, was reported as missing in the pond at open land near Barton Embankment, Trafford, shortly before 6pm on Tuesday.

Police and firefighters searched the pond, supported by a specialist rescue team, and the boy's body was recovered at about 8.30pm.

The boy's family has been informed, a police spokesman said.

Inquiries into the incident are continuing.
