Crews tackle blaze at power station

Firefighters are tackling a blaze at Tilbury power station in Essex.

It is thought the fire is in a storage building on the site.

An Essex Police spokesman said the immediate area has been evacuated.

Essex County Fire and Rescue Service said the blaze covered an area measuring 200 metres by 300 metres.

A spokesman said eight pumps and an aerial ladder platform were tackling the incident.

A spokesman for RWE, the company which owns the power station, said there was no effect to the power supply in the area.
