Olympic's Javelin beats its target

The high speed Olympics Javelin Train has hit its target and even arrived at the Olympic Park ahead of schedule.

The train, which will take up to 25,000 visitors per hour to and from the Park, in Stratford, east London, in 2012, left London's St Pancras Station at 9.42am.

It took approximately 6 minutes 45 seconds to complete the journey marking the fact that July 27 is three years exactly to the start of the London Games.

Olympics' Minister Tessa Jowell said: "This is going to bring a very large number of people down from central London to the Park - 97% of people will travel to the Park by public transport.

"These are going to be the public transport games and the public transport infrastructure has been accelerated because of the Olympics."

Passengers on the train included many of Britain's Olympic and Paralympic hopefuls who hope to go for gold in 2012 including new world diving champion Tom Daley, 15.

The athletes are being taken on a tour of the Olympic Park.
