Five held after youth shot in leg

A 14-year-old boy is recovering in hospital after being shot in the leg.

The teenager was attacked in the Croxteth area of Liverpool at around 10.30pm on Sunday.

Merseyside Police said five youths were arrested close to the scene of the attack, on Storrington Avenue, and a firearm was recovered.

A spokeswoman said: "At this time the motive for the shooting is unclear.

"High visibility patrols have been stepped up in the area and the scene has been cordoned off for forensic examinations."

The boy was taken to hospital where he is expected to make a full recovery.
