Six people have been arrested on suspicion of murder after a 19-year-old woman was found dying with stab wounds in a park.
Officers were called at 1.40am to Towneley Park in Burnley, Lancs and found the victim with multiple knife wounds and head injuries.
Paramedics and police tried to save her but she was pronounced dead at the scene, Lancashire Police said.
Six people, all from Burnley, were arrested on suspicion of murder. They are a woman, aged 19, and five males, two aged 20, one aged 22, and two others aged 17 and 18.
A spokesman for the force said: "Police have launched a major investigation following the discovery of a body in Towneley Park in Burnley.
"Officers were called to the scene by the ambulance service at 1.40am and on arrival found a 19-year-old woman with multiple knife injuries and head wounds.
"Attempts were made to resuscitate her but she was pronounced dead at the scene.
"Six people have been arrested on suspicion of murder and they are being questioned at Burnley Police Station."
