Trio die as car crashes into house

Three men were killed when the car they were travelling in crashed into the side of a house, which then partially collapsed, police have said.

The victims, aged 35, 27 and 19, died after their Ford Mondeo hit a two-storey, detached house in Dalton Hill, Hamilton, in South Lanarkshire.

A couple and their daughter were inside the house at the time but were unhurt, Strathclyde Police said.

The building partially collapsed with the force of the collision.

A statement from Strathclyde Fire and Rescue said: "The crews quickly worked to make the immediate area safe and effectively deal with the incident.

"Although the residents of the house escaped injury, all three occupants of the vehicle tragically died as a result of the collision.

"Strathclyde Police are currently carrying out an investigation into the cause of the accident."
