A BABY girl was in such a rush to welcome in the new year that her poor father missed her birth.
Baby Wynter Rose Newell was born at the Countess of Chester Hospital at 12.45pm on January 1, weighing 6lb 12oz.
Mum Sarah Louise Newell said: “She wasn’t due until January 20 but because of high blood pressure I had to be induced.
“Everything happened very fast. Luckily my mum was with me but my husband Michael missed the birth.”
Wynter is named after singer Wynter Gordon and is the couple’s third child.
Brother Ciaran is eight and sister Sydney sadly passed away at the age of seven months following a liver disease.
Sarah said: “All three of my children looked exactly alike when they were born, just like their father.”
Andrea and Anthony Lathwell’s baby daughter Holly Dawn Eloise was also an early arrival, at 2.11am.
Andrea, who moved from Frodsham to Llangollen in October, said: “Holly was due on January 10 but my waters broke in IKEA on New Year’s Eve. We went to the hospital but were told that everything was all right and we could go home.
“At 12.10am I was in lots of pain and by 12.30am I woke my husband. We and our 18-month-old daughter Arabella were out of the house by 1.15am and in the hospital by 1.47am. I was saying ‘I don’t care how fast you drive, I’m having this baby in Chester!’.”
A midwife at the Countess of Chester Hospital looked after Arabella (Belle) until Andrea’s mother arrived from Aberdovey.
