VARIOUS MPs, including Joan Walley, David Kidney, Paul Farrelly and George Stevenson, signed a motion calling on the Government to ban hunting. Have they forgotten they sit in Parliament to represent their constituents' wishes, not to air their own prejudiced views?
These MPs 'look forward' to a hunting poll, but should consider that the majority of people feel domestic and international problems need priority.
Has it occurred to these MPs that their irrational enthusiasm for this Bill might be the final straw for the apathetic British electorate and be the downfall of Mr Blair and his government?

I WISH to thank all those who put their trust in me at the local borough elections by voting for me.
I realise that I am to some, very unknown, compared to the rest of the borough council - young and a new resident. But I believe these are both attributes that I can bring to the people of Haslington and Winterley and to the borough.
It is about time we have some new and younger blood. I look forward to serving you to the best of my abilities and furthering the trust that you have given me.
I am part of a great team of councillors in the ward and I would like to thank them and their team for their tireless support over the past few weeks, without them, it would be hard for me to imagine that I would be in this position. I will of course continue to support the Landfill Action Group and reject the application to site the landfill at Clayhanger and have the best interests of the residents of Haslington and Winterley at heart. Thank you again.

I WOULD like to thank all those in Wrenbury ward who voted for me in the recent local elections.
I am also grateful to those people who delivered leaflets in Wrenbury. It was a good result and with a turnout of 53%. I would like to say well done to all voters.
CLLR MARGARET HOLLINS Wrenbury Ward, Crewe and Nantwich Borough Council
I WOULD like to thank the residents in the Valley Ward, Crewe for voting for me in the borough council elections on June 10. I am pleased to represent the ward as borough councillor and will continue to work with all residents to improve aspects of the ward.
I would also like to thank residents in the ward for their help and support during the election campaign. I can assure all the residents I spoke to that I will be following up concerns and issues that were raised during canvassing.
CLLR BOB JONES Valley Ward, Franklyn Avenue, Crewe
I WOULD like to thank all the people who voted for me in the Crewe and Nantwich Borough Council elections. I will endeavour to serve the electorate of Birchin Ward, whatever their political persuasion, to the best of my ability.
CLLR GRAHAM FENTON Mercer Way, Nantwich
MAY I express my sincere and grateful thanks to the electors of the Barony Weaver ward of Crewe and Nantwich Borough who supported me in the council elections.
Once more the Barony Weaver ward will have a Nantwich Labour councillor to represent them at borough council level, and may I assure them all that I will work for their interests as I have in the past, regardless of their political allegiance.
Being a Dabber, I have always put Nantwich first, and will continue to do so. Once again, thank you all.

I AM writing to support R Chadwick from Nantwich who complained about the horrendous parking situation at Leighton Hospital in Views last week.
Last Thursday morning I had an appointment at the Patrick Murphy Clinic at 11.20 am. After driving around the car park for 20 minutes, my partner and I decided he would drop me off at the entrance, go home in the car and return for me later on.
It was a good thing that I was accompanied as there was no way that I could have parked the car and been in time for my appointment, even though we arrived with 30 minutes to spare.
Whilst I was being seen by the doctor in the unit, a nurse came in and said that a person had turned up over half an hour late because of the car parking situation.
When I explained what had happened to me she told me to complain to the hospital authorities which I duly did, completing a complaints form.
I know that further car parking facilities are being provided and work is obviously progressing, but the present situation is unacceptable when the medical facilities are very good.
Surely this situation reflects badly on our local hospital, particularly when we have to pay to park anyway?

WITH all the problems that have been associated with the process of delivery and filling out ballot forms, I feel that it has all been worth it with 1,608 electors participating in my ward and, funnily enough, 44 decided to spoil their ballot papers.
The only question is why did 2,481 electors choose not to do anything to enhance the democratic process? That was out of 4,133 total electors eligible to vote.
The process could not have been easier with over a week to decide and a chance to change your vote up until two days before the court. You never had that choice with the ballot box system.
It would have been nice to have a larger mandate from the people. Your Labour ward councillors have a list of improvements which we hope to implement. I only hope that 989 votes are enough to sway the powers-that-be to see them come to fruition. We shall ensure that it does.
I sincerely hope that when the vote comes for a referendum on regional assembly that it is a postal ballot because it will be the most important vote anyone will cast. If a 'no' vote is cast there will be less autonomy for local people.
We will need a resounding 'yes' for it to trigger unitary, local government which, in turn, will lead to greater devolved power from the centre.
Then the people will have the power but first they must use it wisely before a fully democratic form of local government is implemented.
Use your vote. Don't lose it.
