Queen’s Park High School pupil Anna Haughton gets her t-shirt design in BHS

AN ARTISTIC teenager has seen her T-shirt design catapulted into shops up and down the UK.

Queen’s Park High School pupil Anna Haughton, 13, from Handbridge, was one of five youngsters across the country whose designs were chosen to be reproduced on hundreds of t-shirts to be sold in BHS stores.

Anna entered the competition in October and was told before Christmas she was one of the lucky winners.

Last month, Anna and her mum Jane travelled on an all expenses paid VIP trip to London to meet BHS bosses and to see the design being modelled for promotional material.

Anna’s creation appears on garments in BHS’s trendy range for under 16s, Tammy.

Mum Jane said: “It was a brilliant design. I’ve been stopping people in the street to tell them.

“It will be surreal if I see people wearing it. There’s a big poster of it in the Trafford Centre.”

Anna fulfilled BHS’s criteria for “a real wow piece, a unique, show stopping design”.

On arrival at the capital, Anna and her mum met the other competition winners at the Hard Rock Cafe and visited the head office of BHS to meet the design team and see the t-shirts made up. Anna was given £250 to spend in Tammy.

“Anna is keeping in touch with the designers – it might lead to other stuff,” added Jane.

The next day they took in a chauffer driven limousine tour around London and went to the photoshoot.

“She gets it all from her mother!” joked Jane. “She’s brilliant at art and she hopes to go to St Martin’s Art School in London when she leaves Queen’s Park.”

Anna’s winning design can be bought from BHS in Foregate Street, Chester.
