Growing up in a London suburb

A CHESTER author has published a new book about his boyhood in a London suburb.

Adrian Bristow, who was principal of Chester College of Further Education from 1966 to 1981, has written Suburban Boy: Growing up in South-East London in the Thirties, about his life in a lower middle-class family in the years before the Second World War. The book is published by The History Press.

Adrian, 82, lives with his wife Patricia off Lache Lane. The couple moved to Chester in 1966 with their three daughters.

Other books by Adrian include Inside the Colleges of Further Education, A Serious Disappointment: The Battle of Aubers Ridge 1915 and Italian Diversions, the effect of the Italian experience on British travellers.

His next book, Imogen: Adventures of a Narrow Boat is about his and Patricia’s experience living on a narrow boat on the River Thames.
